Summary:
We’re looking for a part-time or full-time content creator to engage & grow our community on social media! Our mission at Viva is to make fresh feeding more accessible and our content is a key part of building trust and awareness. Our videos are centered around educating pet parents about nutrition, pet care, our practices at Viva & a behind-the-scenes of the pet industry. At the end of the day, we want more people to know about fresh feeding & feel informed about their pet’s health & nutrition.
Our ideal candidate is someone who is highly original and is able to find a way of making seemingly boring topics seem fascinating. You don’t have to be familiar with the pet care & nutrition space but you must be willing to spend significant time learning the science and dialogue in the community. Since education is an important pillar of our content, you need to know how to conduct research with a scientific mindset, be comfortable digesting technical information, and do your due diligence fact-checking the information you share. You’re then able to present the information in the highest impact way that speaks to the widest audience possible.
You have a drive to constantly improve your craft — you thoroughly analyze every line, cut, and edit to make sure it’s keeping your viewer’s attention and delivering your message with the maximum impact. With every piece of content you post, you’re testing different tactics to improve retention and reviewing afterwards to see if it accomplished your goals. When you watch content that others share, you’re always studying their presentation, editing, visual, and messaging to understand what made their video successful. Fundamentally, you’re constantly striving to understand how people think, what they find interesting, and how to craft your takeaways.
We have a strong preference for quality over quantity and we’ll always choose sharing 2-3 high quality posts/week over posting less engaging content daily. We’re always looking to engage & tell a story with our content — you won’t find any reposted UGC, quick trends, or plain product photos on our feed.

What You’ll Do
- Plan, script, film, and edit videos for our social media accounts
- Draft clear & compelling captions that align with Viva’s brand voice
- Research & synthesize information on pet care, nutrition, and pet food manufacturing
- Analyze performance and engagement on our content, research retention strategies across platforms, and adapt based on learnings
- Build, categorize, and maintain library of video assets
- Respond to DMs, comments, and tagged posts on our social profiles
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience creating engaging video content on TikTok, Instagram, or Youtube – this can be for your own profile or another brand.
- A desire to constantly improve your craft – you pay attention to all the small details and obsess over how to make each piece of content better than the last. You’re always open to feedback
- Highly creative and willing to experiment with new content ideas, styles, and formats
- Strong storytelling skills and ability to create a personal connection with your audience. Part of this means you should be very comfortable appearing & talking on camera.
- Extremely comfortable with researching & presenting on complex scientific/nutrition topics – you don’t need to be a trained scientist but since we do like to talk about nutrition, you should know how to research information, understand which sources are reputable, and distill information in an easy & engaging way.
- Strong understanding of best practices, trends, and engagement norms on each platform
- Excellent writing skills – you need to be able to put together clear & compelling scripts and captions. Think of these as mini blog posts.
- A cat and/or dog (preferably both) and they’re either already eating raw or you’re ready to make the switch!
Position & Benefits
- The role will be a contract-to-hire position. You will be hired as a contractor for the first 3 months with the opportunity to sign on for a full-time position with full benefits (health insurance, 401k, PTO) at the end of the term. The salary offered will remain the same between the contractor & full-time period
- We fully intend to bring this position on as a full-time hire but we’ve found that the best way to see if a creative partnership will be successful is by actually working together to get a better understanding of the thought process, content style, and creativity on each side.
